Wednesday will be the first in the history of the Federation Council of the speech of a foreign Parliament during the plenary session of the upper house: Russian colleagues will turn the head of the Senate of France gerard Larcher, told RIA Novosti press-service of the Federation Council.
According to the interlocutor of the Agency, the performance Larcher opens the meeting. It is possible that the senators will have an opportunity then to ask him questions.
The day before, on February 24, Larcher met the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko. The conversation, in particular, was about parliamentary efforts to implement the Minsk agreements and the development of trade and economic relations.
Larcher was elected President of the French Senate October 1, 2014, this will be his first foreign trip outside the EU. As previously reported, the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry, Alexander Lukashevich, Larcher regards his visit as a political signal in favour of normalization of relations and against attempts to isolate Russia.
