According to the British press, Man City is ready to plan to replace Pep Guardiola in the worst-case scenario.
Coach Pep Guardiola is entering the fourth season with Man City. After the domestic treble last season, the Spaniard’s goal was to bring the first Champions League trophy to Etihad.
Under the contract, Pep Guardiola and Man City are under contract until 2022 after renewing in May 2018. At the hands of the Spanish rulers, Man City is still performing beautifully to play and makes the Premier League teams fear.
However, Man City fans have reason to worry about the future of their captain. Not long ago, Pep chose the successor at Man City and insisted Arteta could take on the role of the team coach. Even Pep hinted that he would part ways with the Etihad team like Sir Alex did with MU.
“Can anyone survive as long as Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford? It’s difficult and complicated. Today, sticking to a permanent team is unthinkable”. After the words of Pep Guardiola, the Mirror recently confirmed that the Premier League champions were soon planning a life without Pep Guardiola. Accordingly, Man City has now quickly contacted former Dutch player Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
It is worth mentioning, Man City has implicitly brought the Dutch LV to Etihad to learn the team in order to gain a deeper understanding of the club before taking on the role of future coach. In the short term, Bronckhorst will work for the youth team. The Manchester City coaching board aims to want the Dutch leader to rise from the young players he leads.
In the case of this season, Man City can neither defend the Premier League title nor fail in the Champions League, not excluding the possibility that Pep Guardiola will bid farewell to the team.
Besides Van Bronckhorst, Man City also has two other contingency plans: Mikel Arteta and Patrick Vieira. All three will work and the owners of this team will choose the best one to replace when Pep leaves.
While still playing as a player, Van Bronckhorst had a time in the Premier League for Arsenal (2001-03 season). Later, he moved to La Liga to wear Barcelona. Starting to pursue a coaching career, Van Bronckhorst has been an assistant to Koeman at Feyenoord and has led the club since 2015.
