The cost of space projects will be recalculated in connection with the fall of the ruble in the first quarter, said Monday the new head of Roscosmos Igor Komarov.
“I think in the first quarter, given the fact that the rate is changing almost doubled and the share of imported components in civil matters as well as some areas of production of spacecraft large enough, of course, you need to think seriously and to make the allocation of projects that we do. May require serious adjustments,” said Komarov on the TV channel “Russia-24″.
According to him, what happened with the change of exchange rate, interest rates and inflation, “we are preparing very seriously”. He noted that despite the growth of interest rates in the space industry is very overextended. In his opinion, the industry must learn to live in a new environment, with new rates.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said last week that he supports the proposal of the government of the Russian Federation on the reform of Roscosmos and the creation of the Corporation by merger with United rocket and space Corporation (ORCC). This step aims to unite and make more effective the efforts of the government and business to solve common industry problems.
The reform of the Russian missile-technical industry began in 2013 amid crisis, accompanied, in particular, a number of accidents during the launches of spacecraft. The result was the establishment of the United rocket and space Corporation (ORCC), which included the industry, and Roscosmos remained sectoral research institutes and organizations of the ground infrastructure.
