Pushkov: summer parliamentary forum BRICS is prepared in the state Duma

The parliamentary forum of BRICS is prepared in the state Duma of the Russian Federation, he is scheduled for July this year, said the head of the state Duma Committee on international Affairs Alexei Pushkov following the meeting of deputies of Russia and India, headed by the speaker of the lower house of the Russian Parliament Sergei Naryshkina his Indian counterpart Sumitra Mahajan.

He reminded that this year Russia is chairing the BRICS, the next summit will be held in Ufa.

“We in the State Duma prepare parliamentary forum of BRICS, which is scheduled for the month of July, we reported officially to our Indian colleagues and invited them to participate in this forum. The idea was adopted,” said Pushkov.

“I hope that this trip will take place, and we will be able to compare our agenda in the international area. So it seems to me that as the beginning of our parliamentary participation in the activities of the BRICS in Russia, I think that this is a good start,” added Pushkov.

“We will also go to the parliaments of South Africa, Brazil, the National Assembly of China and will also speak their participation in parliamentary forum, which seems to be extremely important to spend,” he said.

According to him, the parliamentary dimension of the BRICS at the moment no, “but it is spoken in two years, and it’s time to give him a practical start. “Of course, this is a new format, it can cause some issues, because this was not the case. But it seems to us that since political relations are highly advanced, it is necessary to gradually tighten this and parliamentary format,” added Pushkov.
