
Russia and Hungary have signed a contract for the construction of two new units of the Hungarian NPP Paks, told RIA Novosti the representative of the state Corporation Rosatom.

Three Executive agreement concerning the construction of two nuclear units of Paks reactors in the Russian technology VVER-1200, signed on Tuesday, the Director General of the Hungarian MVM Paks II Sandor Nagy and senior Vice President-Director of the Moscow branch of JSC “NIAEP” Vladimir Savushkin. Documents regulate the parameters of design, supply and construction of two new units, the conditions associated with their maintenance and repair, as well as providing fresh fuel, handling and storage of irradiated fuel.
NPP Paks is the only nuclear power plant in Hungary with four VVER-440 units, the first unit was commissioned in 1982. Currently, the share of electricity produced at nuclear power plants, is in the structure of the energy balance of Hungary about 50%.
In January, Russia and Hungary signed an agreement on the construction of Russian technologies two new reactors of the NPP. Russia will give Hungary a loan of 10 billion euros.
