
The state Corporation “Rosatom”, being the largest Russian high-tech company on a global scale, has all the necessary competencies for the preparation and implementation of the program of scientific-technical and production and technological development of the Russian Arctic territories, said a member of the Federation Council Committee on the Federal structure, regional policies, local self-governance and Affairs of the North Igor Chernyshenko.
Developed in the “Rosatom” the program is aimed at improving the efficiency of the construction and operation of facilities under construction in the Arctic, energy, transport and communication infrastructure due to the introduction of new technologies. The passport program is being held in the Russian venture company expertise for further processing in the software view and inclusion in the list of priority national projects of the Russian Federation.
The need for the program
“Development of the Arctic territories is one of the strategic directions of development of Russia for many decades to come. We are talking about mining, the development of social and economic infrastructure of the surrounding regions, the development of transport availability, energy supply,” said Chernyshenko in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, it is important to understand that an essential condition for the harmonious development of the Arctic is the preservation of the unique natural complex.
“It is therefore necessary program of scientific-technical and industrial development of the Arctic territories, including all of the above aspects,” said the Senator.
Competence Of Rosatom
“State Corporation “Rosatom” today is a leading Russian high-tech company on a global scale, with the necessary design expertise, both in science and in the practical application of scientific knowledge technologies,” said Chernyshenko.
According to him, the Corporation has done extensive work to identify the existing and future demand for technologies and products that can be used in the development of the Arctic.
“The Corporation together with Spetsstroy of Russia is already working on the program of development of the Arctic territories in which interested oil and gas companies, regions, transport companies,” said Chernyshenko.
He noted that the company Rosatom can offer both energy (low power plants) and transport (development of the nuclear icebreaker fleet within a member state of the FSUE “Atomflot”) solutions for the development of territories.
“It is very important that the passport has grown into a program that could claim the status of a national project and funding. If we fail to develop the Arctic now, after a few years we will hopelessly fall behind from its neighbors in the Arctic region,” said Chernyshenko.
