Martic made a mark as soon as he entered the game. From being led from 0 to 40, the seed of 22 won five points in a row to win the game to catch the ball at the beginning of the match after the Williams’ deep forehand. However, Serena quickly responded by removing the three points Martic handed in the next game to equalize 1-1 with a winner along the line.

Six-time champion in the US Open took the initiative in the rest of the set. Serena won four points returned in the eighth game to win another game of defending after a backhand winner. She saved two face-break break points in the final game, before closing the first set of wins.

In the second set, Serena was given a medical examination by the doctor to check the ankle after a dislocated situation in the fifth game. Overcoming that injury, the 37-year-old despite missing four chances in the seventh game, is still very sure in the game of serving when not facing any break-point.

Serena ended the match with a fourth ace in the match to win a ticket to the US Open Round of 2019. During the match, she won nearly 80% of the first serve, scored 38 winner points and made 19 self-defeating errors. And rival Martic has only 11 points and 12 similar errors, respectively.
