Skater Kolenikov became world champion in the sprint triathlon

Russian skater Paul Kolenikov won the title of world champion in the sprint triathlon at the tournament, which ended in Astana.

Kolenikov the sum of the four distances scored 138,325 points. On the final day of the competition, the Russians won at distances of 500 and 1000 meters (1 minute 9,06 seconds). Second overall was the Dutchman Hein Otterspeer (139,335), and the third is another Russian Alexey Esin, showed the second result in the second race 1000 meters (1.09,41) and scored 139,855 points.

This title was the first for the Russian speed skating sprint Allround 18 years: in 1997, the gold of the world championship was won by Sergey Leucena.

Also Kolenikov became one of the youngest world Champions sprint. By this measure it ahead of only American Eric Heiden. In 1977, when Hayden won the title, he was only 18 years old. Kolenikov at the moment of victory 20 years, the rest of the Champions won the title in the sprint in 22 years and older.
