The Corporation began development of the new Istochnoye uranium deposits in the Republic of Buryatia

JSC Khiagda (included in uranium holding the state Corporation “Rosatom”, JSC Atomredmetzoloto) started the development Istochnoye deposits of natural uranium Higginson ore field in Buryatia, told RIA Novosti the representative of ARMZ.

In the summer of 2014, it was reported that “the Khiagda preparing for the development of Istochnoye and Vertex uranium deposits on Higginson ore field, which, as planned, in the near future may become the center of the uranium mining industry in Russia. Istochnoye field, whose reserves are estimated at 2055 tons of uranium, is one of the best on Higginson ore field in uranium content.

JSC Khiagda started developing Istochnoye deposits since December of last year. The already completed part of the preparatory works, drilling of production wells”, - said the Agency interlocutor.

According to him, to date, 20 wells have been drilled, the number of drilled meters is 4.6 thousand.

“By April - end of the first field season and this figure is expected to increase to 16 thousand linear meters. Soon work will begin on clearing plots from the forest, disposal and incineration of waste that will allow you to continue drilling operations. In the summer planned infrastructure, in particular, covering roads, power lines, construction of the processing plant,” added the representative of ARMZ.

He noted that the end of drilling is planned for 2016.

“The work is going in the graph, which will allow the end of next year to enter the industrial production of uranium,” the source said.

JSC Khiagda is located in Bauntovsky district of Buryatia. The company operates the Khiagda Deposit ore field. “Khiagda plans to 2018, to reach their full rate of one thousand tons of uranium per year.
