The special representative of the UN Secretary-General on Iraq was jan kubis of Slovakia, the corresponding appointment was made Secretary General ban Ki-moon on Tuesday. Kubis also heads the UN mission for assistance to Iraq (UNAMI).
“Mr. kubis was replaced on this post Nikolay Mladenov of Bulgaria, which the Secretary-General is grateful for his leadership in UNAMI (moonsea), which is one of the most difficult missions to the United Nations in the period of important political development of the country”, - said the press service of the organization on Tuesday.
Kubis held the position of special representative and head of the UN mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) from 2012 to 2014.
