The third unit of Rostov NPP gave his first talk in the energy system of Russia

One of the most important events in Russia’s nuclear power in recent years has occurred in the night of Saturday: new third unit of Rostov NPP is connected to the power system of Russia and began to give it the first kilowatt-hours of electricity, told RIA Novosti the representative of the concern “Rosenergoatom”.

Completed loading of nuclear fuel into the reactor of the third block Rostas”00:24 Saturday held a turning block in the integrated power grid of the country. The unit began to produce the first current,” - said the Agency interlocutor. He noted that the reactor unit operates at approximately one-third of its rated thermal power. This level is sufficient for generation of steam supplied to the turbine unit.

The third unit of Rostov NPP was launched in November of this year ahead of schedule by several months.

The next step will be the development of power generating capacity of up to 50%. In commercial operation the third unit will approximately be passed in the summer of 2015 after mastering the rated power (100%) and conduct acceptance tests.

Rostov NPP - branch power division of the state Corporation “Rosatom”, concern “Rosenergoatom”. This is the most southern of the Russian NPPs and one of the largest energy companies in the South of Russia. The station is located on the banks of the Tsimlyansk reservoir 13.5 kilometers from the town.
