The two-day forum in memory of the victims of the Holocaust opened in Prague

The fourth international forum “let my people live!” opened on Monday in Prague, told national radio.

It coincides with the International day of remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust and dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz by the Soviet army.

The forum is organized by the European Jewish Congress in conjunction with the Federation of Jewish communities of the Czech Republic under the protection of the President of the Czech Republic milos Zeman.

In the action participate by the presidents of Slovakia Andrew Pussy and Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev, European Parliament President Martin Schulz, the chairmen of the parliaments or their deputies from more than 30 European countries, the Chairman of the Knesset Yuli Yoel Edelstein and other prominent politicians, historians, political scientists, and former prisoners of Nazi concentration camps. The Russian delegation is headed by Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Ilyas Umakhanov.

“The Jews in Europe today is threatened by Islamic radicalism and economic instability,” he said at the opening held in the framework of the forum on ways to counteract the rise of anti-Semitism, racism and xenophobia on the continent, the President of the European Jewish Congress Moshe Kantor.

He intends to offer at the forum a number of specific measures to address the situation. In particular, according to Cantor, it is necessary to establish the post of a special Europeenne to combat extremism and anti-Semitism.

During the one-day conference, the participants intend to pay special attention to the role of media and social networks, through which in recent years growing wave of extremism.

On Tuesday, at the residence of the Czech President will meet participating in the forum of politicians, and then located near Prague and former concentration camp terezin held a memorial ceremony in honor of the International day of remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust and the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz by the Soviet army.
