The IRONMAN World Championships between 140.6 and 70.3 are scheduled to be held in the United States and New Zealand in 2020, simultaneously announcing cancellation of this year for the COVID-19 epidemic.
On the same day, triathlon lovers continuously received news that the IRONMAN World Championships 140.6 and 70.3 were not held in 2020 because of the COVID-19 epidemic. IRONMAN Kona World Championships scheduled to be held on 10/10/2022 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii (USA) for the first time canceled since 1978. This is the world’s most prestigious tournament for only successful athletes. The competition is taken in about 8 hours and about 9 hours for female athletes, applied to the track: swimming 3.8km, cycling 180km and running 42.195km. Previously, they had planned to withdraw until February, 2, 2021 but finally officially canceled the 2020 award.

In addition, IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships scheduled to be held at the end of November in New Zealand is officially canceled this year. The organizers regrettably wrote on their Facebook page: “We are extremely disappointed to announce that we cannot host the IRONMAN World Championship 70.3 this year in Taupo, New Zealand. For the first time since 2006, the prize was canceled due to epidemic reasons. We try to campaign to bring this tournament to Taupo, New Zealand in 2022 ”.
Thus, IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships 2021 will be held in St. George, Utah (USA) on September 17-18, 2021.

Players who qualify for the World Championships in 2020 can be considered for the tournament in 2021 or 2022. The “Iron Man” World Championship has been held every year in Hawaii since 1978 (in 1982 twice). Initially, the award was held in February in Oahu, then moved to Big Island in 1981.
In 2019, the two German athletes Jan Frodeno and Anne Haug were the male and female world champions.
